“WE ARE THE CHURCH”
Today we will participate in multiple events that historically have been essential parts of what makes church, the Church. The Church is the body of Christ
Matthew 16:13- From this text let me make several points:
1. Jesus affirms what Peter says - ______________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________
2. Jesus said, “On this rock I will build My church.” The rock is Peter’s confession of who Jesus is, the Christ, the living God. ___________________________________________________________________________.
3. Finally, God expects His Church to be powerful. “The gates of hades shall not prevail against it.” _____________________________________________________________________________
Just as the LAW was given to Israel as a means to guide them, protect them and distinguish them from other nations, the Church is called to live in the world but to not become “of the world.” In this regard one of the most sacred and beneficial things God has given us is the covenant of marriage.
