Living Tower History
Started in 1986 as a church plant from Meadowood Free Methodist church in Aurora, CO. The founding Pastor was Eldon Babcock out of Canada. There were 17 people in the initial group, all from Meadowood Free Methodist church. The church started in different homes. As we grew, we had services at the Holiday Inn on Chambers and I-70. There was 1 meeting room and a piano. We were competing each Sunday with many conventions, some of which had a different perspective than we did. Problems started arising after a couple of months with the room being rented to another group.
Since the interruptions were getting worse, we moved into the Clyde Miller School on Espana street in Aurora. This was east of Tower road and north of Colfax At this location we would set up on Sunday morning and tear down after service. We were able to have a classroom for Bible study. This went on for a couple of months, but we were searching for a permanent place, that would allow for additional classes and additional space. We prayed and pursued many locations that were for rent or purchase.
One day, the pastor was driving around and spotted an old school that was abandoned. We later learned this building was the old Clyde Miller school. We were able to purchase the property and after many renovations it became our new home. We are excited that the Lord has led us to this area to minister in and become a place to belong.
